THE SKY THIS MONTH

ASTRONOMICAL EVENTS FOR NOVEMBER 2011

Nov 1-15: Venus and Mercury remains in pair in W-SW at the time of dusk. The separation is within 2 degrees.

Nov 2: First Quarter Moon

Nov 4: See the pair of Venus and Mercury, very low in the W-SW. A binocular will show Mercury only 28’ from Delta Scorpii. The angular distance between Mercury and Venus is about 2 degrees this time.

Nov 9: See the grouping of Venus, Mercury and Antares within 4 degrees of the sky very low in the W-SW.

Nov 9: Moon and Jupiter just 4.5 degrees apart.

Nov 10: Venus, Mercury and Antares in a straight line, but very low in the W-SW.

Nov 11: Mars is just 1 degree 19’ from Regulus.

Nov 11: Full Moon

Nov 14: Mercury Greatest Eastern Elongation

Nov 17-18: The Leonid Meteor Shower will peak. The Moon is bright and waning from full on all three dates, with last quarter on November 18.

Nov 18: Last Quarter Moon

Nov 19: The Moon, Mars and Regulus forms a triangle within 8 degrees of the sky.

Nov 21: Neptune Eastern Quadrature

Nov 23: See the lovely group of Saturn, Spica and a Crescent Moon in the eastern sky shortly before morning twilight.

Nov 25: A Partial Solar Eclipse will occur and will be visible across Antarctica and New Zealand near Sunset. Parts of the western Antarctic Peninsula will experience nearly 90% obscuration of the sun.

Nov 26: A binocular will show a nice view of Mercury just within 2 degrees of a Waxing Crescent Moon (1.46 days old) very low in the W-SW shortly after sunset.

Nov 27: Venus and a Waxing Crescent Moon (2.5 days old) within 5 degrees apart in the Southwest shortly after sunset.

કચ્છ વાસીઓએ નિહાળ્યો ચંદ્ર ગ્રહણ નો નઝારો તસ્વીર તથા અહેવાલ નરેન્દ્ર ગોર દ્વારા

ગત રાત્રે સૌથી લાંબો સમય ચાલેલ ચંદ્ર ગ્રહણ ની ઘટનાએ કચ્છના લોકોમાં ખુબ ઉત્સુકતા જગાવી હતી. જમી પરવારીને લોકો અગાસી, ધાબા, કે ખુલ્લામાં આવી ગયા હતા. કચ્છ એમેચ્યોર એસ્ટ્રોનોમર્સ ક્લબ તરફથી જીલ્લાના વિવિધ સ્થળોએ ટેલીસ્કોપ તથા દૂરબીન દ્વારા ચંદ્ર ગ્રહણ ની વિવિધ સ્થિતિઓ બતાવવામાં આવી હતી. ભુજ માં મુન્દ્રા રિલોકેશન સાઈટ, રાપર માં સીયારીયા વાસ ખાતે દિનેશ પંચાલ દ્વારા, અંજારના ધમડકા ખાતે અબ્દુલ કરીમ ખત્રી દ્વારા, નખત્રાણા માં પ્રવીણ બગ્ગા દ્વારા, કોઠારા તથા નલીયા માં નિશાંત ગોર તથા કિશન નિજાર દ્વારા માર્ગદર્શન આપવામાં આવેલ હતું. ભુજ ખાતેના કાર્યક્રમમાં ૮૦ જેટલા લોકોએ લાભ લીધો હતો

આ બાબતે માહિતી આપતાં કલબના પ્રમુખ નરેન્દ્ર ગોરે જણાવ્યું હતું કે ગ્રહણ દરમ્યાન ચંદ્ર ની લાલીમાં, ગ્રસ્ત થતા ચંદ્ર દરમ્યાન તારાઓની તેજસ્વીતામાં થતો ફેરફાર, ચંદ્રની પાછળ રહેલ આકાશ ગંગાનું નિરીક્ષણ, તારાઓનું ચંદ્ર દ્વારા થતું પીધાન જેવી વૈજ્ઞાનિક બાબતો નું નિરીક્ષણ તથા નોંઘ તૈયાર કરવામાં આવી હતી,

બરાબર ૧૧ .૫૧ મીનીટે ચંદ્ર ઘેરાવાનું શરુ થયું હતું પ્રથમ કાળો દેખાતો ચંદ્ર જેમ જેમ ઘેરાતો ગયો તેમ તેમ લાલ થતો ગયો હતો. શરૂઆતમાં વાદળોએ નિરીક્ષણ માં અનુકૂળતા કરી આપી હતી પરંતુ પૂર્ણ ગ્રહણ શરુ થયા બાદ વાદળોના ધાડા ચડી આવ્યા હતા જેણે આખો ખેલ બગાડી નાખ્યો હતો. બે વાગ્યા બાદ વાદળો એ મચક આપી ન હતી અને ક્યારેક જ જોવા મળતાં ગ્રહણ નો પહેલો ભાગ જોઈ ને ખગોળ શોખીનોએ સંતોષ માન્યો હતો. કાર્યક્રમ ને સફળ બનાવવા રાહુલ ઝોટા, અમિત હેડાઉ, ગુંજન દોશી, પાયલોટ હાર્દિક ભાટિયા, ભૂમિત ગઢવી, અભી ગોસ્વામી, મયુર બગ્ગા, વગેરે એ જહેમત ઉઠાવી હતી.

કેટલાક મહત્વના નિરીક્ષણો

૧ રાત્રે ૧૨ ને ૫૨ મીનીટે ૫૧ સર્પધર (51 Ophiuchi) તારાનું પીધાન જોવા મળ્યું જે વિરલ ઘટના હતી.

૨ . સંપૂર્ણ ચંદ્ર ગ્રહણ દરમ્યાન આકાશ ગંગા જોવા મળી ન હતી જેનું કારણ એ હતું કે ભુજ માં પ્રકાશ પ્રદુષણ નું પ્રમાણ વધી ગયું છે.

૩. પૂર્ણ ચંદ્રમા વખતે ચંદ્ર ની આસપાસ ન દેખાતાં તારાઓ પૂર્ણ ચંદ્ર ગ્રહણ થતા એકાએક સારી રીતે જોવા મળ્યા હતા.

૪. વૃશ્ચિક અને ધનુ રાશી સાથે સર્પ ધર ખુબજ સારી રીતે જોવા મળ્યા હતા

૫. લોકોમાં ખાસ કરીને બાળકો માં ઉત્સાહ ઘણો હતો અને જીદ કરીને પોતાના વાલીઓ ની સાથે ગ્રહણ ની ઘટના ને માણી હતી.

૬. ટેલીફોન ઉપર લોકોએ પ્રશ્નોનો મારો ચલાવ્યો હતો જેમાં ખાસ કરી ને ગ્રહણ દરમ્યાન રાત્રે ખુલ્લા માં સુવું સલામત છે કે કેમ, નરી આંખે ગ્રહણ જોવાય કે કેમ? ગર્ભવતી સ્ત્રીઓને ગ્રહણ દરમ્યાન કંઈ નુકશાન તો નહીં થયાને? જેવા પ્રશ્નો પૂછવામાં આવતાં હતા જેનો કલબના પ્રમુખ શ્રી નરેન્દ્ર ગોરે સંતોષ કારક અને વૈજ્ઞાનિક અભિગમથી જવાબો આપ્યા હતા.

સૌથી લાંબો સમય સુધી ચાલનાર ચંદ્ર ગ્રહણ - નરેન્દ્ર ગોર, પ્રમુખ કચ્છ એમેચ્યોર એસ્ટ્રોનોમર્સ ક્લબ

૧૫ મી જુન ની રાત્રીએ થનાર અને ૧૦૧ મિનિટ સુધી ચાલનાર સંપૂર્ણ ચંદ્ર ગ્રહણ લગભગ અડધી દુનિયામાં જોઈ શકાશે આ ગ્રહણ પૂર્વ આફ્રિકા, મધ્ય પૂર્વ એશિયા, મધ્ય એશિયા અને પશ્ચિમી ઓસ્ટ્રેલીયા માં શરૂ થી અંત સુધી જોઈ શકાશે. આ ગ્રહણ વખતે થતું અંધારું છેલા સો વર્ષ માં થયેલ ગ્રહણો માં થયેલ અંધારા કરતાં વધારે હશે એવું મનાઈ રહ્યું છે. ૬ ઓગષ્ટ ૧૯૭૧ માં થયેલ ગ્રહણ આવુંજ અંધારિયું હતું પરંતુ આ વખતે પ્રથ્વી ઉપર જ્વાલામુખીય રાખ ને કારણે ચંદ્ર વધારે કાળો લાગે તો નવાઈ નહીં. હવે પછી આવું બીજું ગ્રહણ ૪૭ વર્ષ બાદ એટલેકે ૬ જુન ૨૦૫૮ ના રોજ થવાનું છે.

મધ્ય રાત્રીના બાર વાગીને બાવન મિનીટ થી ૦૨. કલાક ૩૩ મિનીટ સુધી ચંદ્ર સંપૂર્ણ ઘેરાયેલો રહેશે.

ચંદ્ર ગ્રહણ ના સમયે ચંદ્ર પૃથ્વીના પડછાયા માં પ્રવેશ કરે છે આ વખતે ચંદ્ર અને સૂર્ય ની બરાબર વચ્ચે પૃથ્વી આવી જાય છે. જેથી ચંદ્ર ઉપર પડતો સૂર્યનો પ્રકાશ અવરોધાય છે અને પૃથ્વી વાસીઓને ગ્રહણ ની ઘટના માણવા મળે છે.

અવકાશમાં પૃથ્વી ના બે પડછાયા પડે છે એક આછો પડછાયો જેને ખગોળ ની ભાષામાં પેન્મરા કહે છે અને બીજો ઘેરો પડછાયો જેણે ઉમરા કહેવામાં આવે છે. ચંદ્ર પ્રુથ્વીના આછા પડછાયા માં રાત્રીના ૧૦.૫૩ કલાકે પ્રવેશી જશે પરંતુ સામાન્ય લોકોને તેની પ્રતીતિ થશે નહીં. પરંતુ રાત્રીના ૧૧.૫૨ કલાકે જેવો ચંદ્ર પૃથ્વીના ઘેરા પડછાયામાં પ્રવેશશે કે તરત જ ગ્રહણ શરુ થયાનું જાણી શકાશે.

ચંદ્ર ગ્રહણ ને સારી રીતે જોવા માટે દૂરબીન કે ટેલીસ્કોપ નો ઉપયોગ કરી શકાય.

ચંદ્ર ગ્રહણ ને નરી આંખે જોવાથી આંખોને કોઈ નુકશાન થતું નથી કોઈ પણ જાતની બીક રખ્ય વગર આ ખગોલીય ઘટના ને માણવા આથી અપીલ કરવામાં આવે છે.

૩૩૦૦ પ્રકાશ વર્ષ દૂર તારામાં થયેલો વિસ્ફોટ કચ્છના ખગોળ શોખીનોએ જોયો

વલય સાથેનું શનિ ગ્રહનું સોહામણું સ્વરૂપ જોવા મળ્યું

કચ્છ એમેચ્યોર એસ્ટ્રોનોમર્સ ક્લબ દ્વારા સ્વર્ણિમ ગુજરાત સ્થાપના દિન ની ઉજવણી ભુજ મુન્દ્રા રોડ ઉપર આવેલ ચંગલેશ્વર મંદિર મેદાન ખાતે લોકો માટે જાહેર આકાશ દર્શન થી કરવામાં આવી હતી જેમાં ૧૦૦ થી વધુ લોકોએ લાભ લીધો હતો.

અનોખી ઉજવણી અન્ય રીતે પણ અનોખી રહી હતી. થોડા સમય પહેલાં વિસ્ફોટ પામેલ ટી. પાય્ક્ષીડ (T Pyxidis) નામના નોવા ને ટેલિસ્કોપમાં નિહાળી કલબના સભ્યો રોમાંચિત થઇ ઉઠ્યા હતા. આ બાબતે માહિતી આપતાં કલબના રાહુલ ઝોટા એ જણાવ્યું હતું કે આ તારામાં તા. ૧૫ એપ્રીલ ના રોજ વિસ્ફોટ થયો હતો જેના કારણે તે ૮૦૦ ગણો વધુ પ્રકાશિત થઇ ગયો છે. વિસ્ફોટ પહેલાં તેને જોવા ખુબ મોટા ટેલિસ્કોપની જરૂર પડતી હતી હાલમાં તે સાદા ટેલિસ્કોપ કે સારા દૂરબીન થી પણ જોઈ શકાય છે. પૃથ્વીથી ૩૩૦૦ પ્રકાશવર્ષ દુર થયેલા વિસ્ફોટના નિરીક્ષણની ઘટના કચ્છ જીલ્લામાં પ્રથમ વખત હોઈ કલબના પ્રમુખ શ્રી નરેન્દ્ર ગોરે રાહુલ ઝોટાને અભિનંદન આપ્યા હતા.

આકાશ દર્શનના કાર્યક્રમ દરમ્યાન નરેન્દ્ર ગોર દ્વારા સપ્તર્ષી તારક જૂથ અને તેમાં રહેલ વશિષ્ઠ અને અરુંધતી તારાનું આપણી ભારતીય પરંપરામાં મહત્વ સમજાવવા માં આવેલ હતું. તો સપ્તર્ષી ની મદદ થી ધ્રુવનો તારો કેવી રીતે શોધી શકાય તેનું પ્રત્યક્ષ નિદર્શન પણ કરાવવામાં આવ્યું હતું. મહિલા કોલેજના એચ.કે. ગંગર, નરેન્દ્ર અદેપાલ, દિનેશભાઈ મહેતા, યુસુફભાઈ જત, ડૉ. વ્યાસ વગેરે એ પ્રશ્નોતરી દ્વારા જાણકારી મેળવી હતી, તથા વેકેશન દરમ્યાન વિદ્યાર્થીઓ માટે આકાશ દર્શનના કાર્યક્રમોનું વધુ ને વધુ આયોજન થાય તેવી લાગણી વ્યક્ત કરી હતી. ત્યારબાદ કન્યા રાશિમાં સ્થિત અને હાલમાં પૃથ્વીની નજીક રહેલા શનિ ગ્રહનું દર્શન ટેલીસ્કોપ દ્વારા કરાવવામાં આવેલ હતું. શનિ ના સુંદર વલયો સાથે તેના ઉપગ્રહ ટાઈટન ને નિહાળી લોકોએ આનંદ વ્યક્ત કર્યો હતો. મોટા ભાગના લોકોએ પ્રથમ વખત શનિ ગ્રહને ટેલિસ્કોપની મદદ થી જોયો હતો. વાલીઓ સાથે આવેલ બાળકોની જીજ્ઞાસા નોંધપાત્ર રહી હતી. કાર્યક્રમના આયોજનમાં હર્ષદ બાબુલાલ ગોર, શિવશંકર નાકર, ચંગલેશ્વર મંદિરના વ્યવ્સ્થાપકોનો સહયોગ મળ્યો હતો, જયારે કાર્તિક પોમલ, અમિત હેડાઉ, ગુંજન દોશી વગેરે એ વ્યવસ્થા સંભાળી હતી.

18 NOVEMBER OBSERVATION REPORT

On 17th night the members of the Kutch Amateur Astronomer’s Club decided to go for the Leonids Meteor Shower observation. Our venue was Makanpar-Dhosa, our regular place for observing Meteor Showers. Me, Mr. Narendra Gor and Kartik Pomal travelled through Kartik’s car. Two members joined us later. This year’s meteor shower was less fertile and we saw only 12 meteors from the Leonids and two meteors from Delta Monocerotids. We spent the night on the terrace of a Shiv Temple in the village. We all woke-up at 3:30am and started to count meteors till dawn. I carried my 25x100 binos without stand. As the meteor shower wasn’t showing a good number of Shooting Stars I decided to observe few known galaxies and other deep-sky objects through the binoculars holding by hands. Here is the list of objects I observed,

I first pointed the binos to NGC 2841. This is a bright and easy object even from my city. The galaxy is located 1 degree 50’ S-SW from Theta Ursa Majoris star. This is a 10th magnitude galaxy with Angular Size of 7.7 Arc Min and Axis Size of 3.6 Arc Min. It appeared as a faint, rather elongated smudge in the Binoculars.

The next galaxy was NGC 2903, a very easy and bright galaxy in Leo. This galaxy lies within 4 degrees SW of Epsilon Leonis. This is a 9.6th magnitude galaxy with an Axis Size of 5.6’. The galaxy appeared beautiful with two 7.6th and 7th magnitude stars in a 3 degree FOV. Also a 4.3rd magnitude orange star Lambda Leonis appeared in the N-NW edge of the FOV. I missed my stand this time!

The third object was a Planetary Nebula M97 in the Big Dipper. I saw both the nebula and a galaxy, M108 in the same FOV. The nebula was very easy to identify even at first glance. This object is hard to observe from my suburban skies even through my 8-inch Newtonian Telescope. M108, the galaxy was also an easy object through my binos. M108 appeared as elongated fuzz next to two 8.5th and 9th magnitude stars. M108 is just 1.5 degrees NE of Merak or Beta Ursa Majoris.

Now at this time at around 4:10am The Beehive Cluster or M44 was high in the sky appearing through naked-eye as small fuzz. Through the 25x100 Binos it was a breath taking object, Indeed beehive! It filled the entire Field of View. The brightest star in the cluster is Epsilon Cancri shining at magnitudes 6.28. It wasn’t comfortable observing this beautiful cluster through my bulky 4-inch binos weighting 5kg holding on hands! Thus I couldn’t make the view study for longer time and counted 14 stars. There is a miniature of The Constellation Corvus in this cluster if you look carefully. The star Epsilon Cancri is the brightest star in this miniature version of Corvus making a 9’X7’ sized square of stars.In Cancer, there is another beautiful Open Cluster M67. The cluster is located within 2 degrees West of Alpha Cancri. M67 is also known as “King Cobra” and is one of the most ancient open clusters known making it to be 5 billion year old! It is a bright open cluster containing more than 500 stars, many of which were resolvable through my binos. In the FOV it shared view with 60 Cancri and 50 Cancri stars.

Now, even higher in the sky was constellation Gemini. I pointed toward even more rich Open Cluster M35. This cluster gathering of several hundred stars was a glorious sight in my 25x100s. The star, 5 Geminorum shining at magnitude 5.8 was 30’ from the cluster. After this observation, at around 4:25am I pointed the binos toward a beautiful pair of galaxies, M81 & M82 in Ursa Major. The pair is located roughly 10.5 degrees North-West of Dubhe, Alpha Ursa Majoris. M81 is a bright galaxy shining at magnitude 6.94. Its nearby, M82 is another bright galaxy with a apparent magnitude 8.41. Messier 81 and Messier 82 both can be viewed easily using binoculars. Through my binoculars in a 3 degree FOV, I observed another faint fuzzy galaxy, NGC 3077. This galaxy is a smaller member of the M81 group. The galaxy shines at magnitudes 10.6 and was rather tough to make it out through hand-held binoculars. However, after spending little time I could make it out as a very diffuse glow.

In the North-Eastern sky at around 5:15am, the galaxy M51 was well up and I aimed the binos toward its direction. Located nearly 5.5 degrees N-NW of Alkaid (Eta Ursa Majoris), M51 is a bright galaxy and can be easily observed in Binoculars. The galaxy is approximately 23 million light-years away. In my binos I think I had a glimpse of its companion galaxy NGC 5195.

At 5:30am, Saturn and Venus were well up in the eastern sky. I saw Saturn and it appeared as an oval disc. These days Saturn displays the disc of just 16 arc seconds. Venus was nearly 6 degrees above horizon and was within 4 degrees East of Spica. Mr. Narendra Gor somehow fixed the binos steady on the corner of the terrace and pointed toward Venus. It clearly showed the phase of Venus. All members could easily see the phase of Venus. I found from the planetary software that its disc illumination was 12%. I wanted to see the newly discovered comet C/2010 V1 Ikeya-Murakami but due to haziness in the horizon I couldn’t find it.

ભુજ તા. ૧૬ દર વર્ષે થતી સિંહ ઉલ્કા વર્ષા જોવા માટે સજ્જ થવા કચ્છ એમેચ્યોર એસ્ટ્રોનોમર્સ ક્લબ ક્લબ દ્વારા યોજાયેલ વાર્તાલાપ દરમ્યાન શ્રી નરેન્દ્ર ગોરે ઉપર મુજબ જણાવ્યું હતું. આ ઉલ્કા વર્ષા ટેમ્પલ ટટલ નામના ધૂમકેતુએ વેરેલા દ્રવ્ય દ્વારા થાય છે. આ વર્ષે સુદ અગિયારસ નો ચંદ્રમા થોડા સમય માટે બાધારૂપ બનશે પરંતુ ૧૭ તારીખ ના મોડી રાત્રી બાદ એટલેકે ૧૮ મીની વહેલી સવારે ૩.૨૪ કલાકે તે અસ્ત પામી જતા ઉલ્કાઓ સારી રીતે નિહાળી શકાશે. સિંહ રાશી નો ઉદય મધ્ય રાત્રી બાદ થતો હોઈ ઉલ્કા વર્ષા પણ ત્યાર બાદ જ શરૂ થશે. આથી આખી રાત્રી ઉજાગરો કરવા કરતાં વહેલી સવારના ૩.૩૦ થી ૫.૩૦ દરમ્યાન જો ઉલ્કાઓનું નિરીક્ષણ કરવામાં આવે તો પણ સારી ઉલ્કાઓ જોવા મળવાની સંભાવના છે. રાત્રે કંઈ દિશામાં ઉલ્કાઓ જોવી જોઈએ ? તેવા પ્રશ્નના જવાબ માં શ્રી ગોરે જણાવ્યું હતું કે શહેરના પ્રકાશિત વાતાવરણ થી દૂરનું સ્થળ આદર્શ સ્થળ કહી શકાય પરંતુ જો ત્યાં ન જઈ શકાય તો જે દિશામાં અંધારું વધારે હોય તે દિશા તરફ મુખ રાખવાથી પણ થોડી ઘણી પ્રકાશિત ઉલ્કાઓ જોઈ શકાશે. ઉલ્કા વર્ષા નિહાળવા માટે કોઈ દૂરબીન કે ટેલીસ્કોપ જેવા સાધનની જરૂર નથી. આ વખતે વાતાવરણ માં રહેલા વાદળો ઉલ્કા વર્ષા જોવા માટે વિલન બની શકે તેમ છે પરંતુ હવે વાદળો વિખેરાવા મંડ્યા છે ત્યારે વહેલી સવારનું આકાશ સ્વચ્છ રહેવાની આશા છે.

ઉલ્કાઓ ની વ્યવસ્થિત નોંઘ થાય અને તે નોંઘ ક્લબ ને મોકલવામાં આવે તેવો અનુરોધ કરતાં તેમણે જણાવ્યું કે આવો ડેટા આંતર રાષ્ટ્રીય સંસ્થાને ઉપયોગી પુરવાર થાય તેમ છે. કચ્છ એમેચ્યોર એસ્ટ્રોનોમર્સ ક્લબ દ્વારા ઉલ્કા વર્ષા નિરીક્ષણ નો કાર્યક્રમ અવકાશ પ્રેમીઓના માનીતા સ્થળ ધોંસા ખાતે રાખવામાં આવેલ છે જે માટે ૯૪૨૮૨૨૦૪૭૨ ઉપર સંપર્ક કરવા જણાવાયું છે. વાર્તાલાપ દરમ્યાન કલબના વિજય વ્યાસે ૧૯૯૮ ના વર્ષ માં થયેલ ભવ્ય ઉલ્કા વર્ષા ના અનુભવો વર્ણવ્યા હતા. રાહુલ ઝોટાએ સ્વાગત કર્યું હતું, નિશાંત ગોરે વ્યવસ્થા સાંભળી હતી જયારે ગુંજન દોશી, આશિષ કોંઢીયા, અર્ચન સોની, ધૈર્ય પટેલ, ભવ્ય મહેતા, વગેરે પ્રશ્નોત્તરી કરી હતી.

ચંદ્ર શુક્ર પીધાન એક અનોખી ખગોળીય ઘટના ---- અહેવાલ નરેન્દ્ર ગોર સાગર

ભુજ: આકાશમાં દેખાતાં સૂર્ય પછીના સૌથી વધુ પ્રકાશિત પદાર્થોનું મિલન ૧૬મી મે ના રોજ થનાર છે. આ સુંદર ઘટના ભારતમાં જોઈ શકાશે. આ ઘટના નિહાળવાનો સમય જો રાત્રીનો હોય તો ખુબજ મજા આવે પરંતુ ૧૬મી મે નો દિવસ અખાત્રીજનો દિવસ છે. એમ કહેવાય છે કે આ દિવસ લગ્ન જીવન શરુ કરવા માટે શ્રેષ્ઠ દિવસ છે. આથી આ દિવસે હજારો નવ દંપતિ પ્રભુતામાં પગલાં માંડશે. અહી એક પતિ અને પત્નીનું મધુર મિલન થાય છે ત્યારેજ આકાશમાં પ્રેમના પ્રતિક એવા શુક્ર અને ચંદ્રનું મિલન થઇ રહ્યું હશે જે ઘટના ખરેખર અદભૂત હશે.

વાત જાણે એમ છે કે સૂર્ય પછી આકાશમાં સૌથી વધુ પ્રકાશિત પદાર્થ ચંદ્ર અને શુક્ર છે. આ બંનેનું મિલન સૂર્ય મહારાજની સાક્ષીએ એટલે કે દિવસના થશે અને આપણે સૌ આ ઘટના નિહાળી શકીશું. આ યુતિને જોવા માટે સાદું દૂરબીન કે ટેલિસ્કોપની મદદ લેવી પડશે. સૌ પ્રથમ દિવસના આકાશમાં ત્રીજનો ચંદ્ર શોધવો પડશે. ચંદ્ર સૂર્યથી પૂર્વ બાજુ લગભગ ૩૦ અંશ દુર હશે. જો ચંદ્ર દેખાઈ આવે તો તેની બાજુમાં આવેલ શુક્રનો ગ્રહ તરતજ દેખાઈ આવશે. તે દિવસે ચંદ્રનો ઉદય સવારના ૭ કલાક ૫૧ મીનીટે થશે જયારે તેનો અસ્ત રાત્રે ૯ કલાક ૫૫ મીનીટે થશે. આમ ચંદ્ર શુક્રની યુતિ ચંદ્રના અસ્ત સમય સુધી જોઈ શકાશે. પણ જેમને પીધાન જોવું છે તેઓ બપોરના ૩ કલાક ૩૫ મીનીટે ચંદ્રનો જે ભાગ અપ્રકાશિત છે એટલેકે ચંદ્રની ચળકતી કોરની સામેની બાજુએથી શુક્રને અદ્રશ્ય થતો જોઈ શકશે. આ ઘટના ખરેખર ખુબજ નયનરમ્ય હશે. ચંદ્ર ની પાછળ શુક્રના ગુમ થઇ ગયા બાદ આકાશમાં બન્ને પદાર્થ પોતાની ગતિથી ફર્યા કરતા હોવાથી સાડા ત્રણ વાગ્યે અદ્રશ્ય થયેલો શુક્ર સાંજે પાંચ વાગીને તેર મીનીટે ચંદ્રની ચળકતી કોર પાસેથી બહાર નીકળશે. આમ શુક્રનું અદ્રશ્ય થવું અને ફરીથી દેખાવું આ બન્ને દ્રશ્યો ખગોળ રસિયા તેમજ બારીકાઈથી નિરીક્ષણ કરનારાઓ માટે ખુબજ યાદગાર બની રહેશે. સાંજના ભાગે સૂર્યનો તાપ થોડો ઓછો થયો હોઈ શુક્રનું ફરીથી દેખાવાનું દ્રશ્ય થોડી મહેનત કરવાથી નરી આંખે પણ જોઈ શકાશે.

ચંદ્ર શુક્રનું આવું માધુર્ય મિલન આશરે દોઢ કલાક ચાલશે જે દરમ્યાન શુક્રને જોઈ શકાશે નહિ.

આમ જેને સૌન્દર્ય અને પ્રેમના પ્રતિક ગણાય છે એવા શુક્ર અને ચંદ્રનું મિલન અક્ષય તૃતિયાના દિવસે મધુર મિલન ઝંખતા નવ દંપતીઓ માટે નવલું નઝરાણું લઈને આવ્યું હોય તેમ જણાય છે. જયારે સૂર્યનો અસ્ત થશે અને ધીમે ધીમે અંધારું થશે ત્યારે પશ્ચિમ આકાશમાં વિદાય થતાં આ પ્રેમી યુગલ જેવા શુક્ર અને ચંદ્ર એક બીજાને આલિંગન લઈને બેઠા હશે ત્યારે JUST MARRIED નું સંબોધન તેમને માટે પણ ઉપયુક્ત લાગશે. લોકોને આ ઘટના કોઈ પણ ભય વગર નિહાળવા અપીલ કરવામાં આવે છે. આ બાબતે વધુ માહિતી માટે નરેન્દ્ર ગોર કચ્છ એમેચ્યોર એસ્ટ્રોનોમર્સ ક્લબ નો ૯૪૨૮૨૨૦૪૭૨ ઉપર સંપર્ક સાધવા જણાવવા માં આવે છે.

- શુક્ર ચંદ્ર સામે જોતી વખતે સૂર્ય તરફ ન જોઈ લેવાય તેની ખાસ કાળજી લેવી. સૂર્ય સામે નરી આંખે જોવાથી આંખો ને નુકસાન થઇ શકે છે.

- જયારે કોઈ પણ અવકાશી પદાર્થને ચંદ્ર ઢાંકી દે છે તે ઘટનાને પીધાન કહે છે. જયારે કોઈ પણ બે પદાર્થ એક બીજાની નજીક આવે ત્યારે તે ઘટનાને યુતિ કહેવામાં આવે છે. સુર્યાસ્ત પછી ચંદ્ર શુક્રની યુતિ જોઈ શકાશે.

- ચંદ્ર પ્રથ્વીની ખુબ નજીક હોઈને તે બીજા પદાર્થોને આડે આવી શકે છે. આ ઘટના ફક્ત ખગોળીય ઘટના છે તેનાથી કોઈનું હિત કે અહિત થતું નથી જેથી આ બાબતે અફવાઓ કે ખોટા વહેમોથી દુર રહેવા કચ્છ એમેચ્યોર એસ્ટ્રોનોમર્સ ક્લબ સહુને અપીલ કરે છે.

Kutch Amateur Astronomer’s Club (KAAC) organized its 5th Messier Marathon on 13/14 March 2010. We choose Mirzapar Forest Nursery as our observing site. The site is very close to my city Bhuj. It is only around 5 km away from Bhuj that’s why I had a fear in my mind about the site’s situation and the sky’s darkness especially at east. This was my first experience at this site. We got there at 7:45pm. We were six guys, me, Mr. Narendra Gor, Nishant Gor, Ashwin Vaghela, Fenil Patadiya and a new member Rajesh Doshi. Fenil Patadiya had traveled from Surat to join us in this event. The ground at the venue was uneven and it took 15 minutes to choose the right place to set our equipments. There was a bright lamp in the place and it was disturbing to see the stars high in the eastern sky. After removing the lamp we settled our equipments. We carried my 8-inch reflector, my 25x100 and 10x50 binocs, and Mr. Narendra Gor’s 8x40 binocs. Fenil Patadiya brought his 7x35 Celestron binocs. So we started around 8:15pm.

As we started late we missed 5 objects in the first session. We missed M77, M74, M110, M76 and M52. Nishant located M33 through his 8x40 binocs and I located rest of objects. The first session was as usual less fertile. But then we located every object in the second session and also every object of the first half of the third session. During this session we had few visitors at the site and they liked the view of Saturn, M81-M82 and The Beehive Cluster. I intently left the Virgo-Coma galaxies unobserved because it was on transit and very high overhead. My scope has an alt-azimuth mount and I cannot see exactly overhead through this scope. I decided to wait until pre-dawn when this part of the sky gets towards west so I can get all galaxies later. During this time I set M104, M102, M83 and M68. I observed M102 for the first time in my life.

Around 3:30am we decided to have a walk around our observing site of forest nursery. After getting back I finished M13, M92, M57 and M56 and then I decided to hunt the Virgo-Coma galaxies. I took the finder chart and located Rho Virginis star and made a star hop toward M60, M59, M58, M89, M90, M91 and M88. Then M87 was easily located. But I missed M85, M98, M99, M100, M84 and M86. This is for the first time I missed 6 galaxies in this region. Too sad :( .

Now I was ready to find all objects located in Ophiuchus, Scorpius and Sagittarius region. I used my 10x50 for bright objects and 8-inch scope for faint globulars. Folks presented at this time were really very happy by watching M8-The Lagoon Nebula. They also liked the view of the great globular cluster Omega Centauri through my 25x100 binocs. In the meantime I set my scope to M13 in Hercules and slightly moved it to a very faint galaxy NGC 6207 (mag ~12) which I had seen through a 16-inch Dobsonian at Nainital in 2008.

At last the final M-objects rising through the light-polluted eastern skies were difficult to locate. We gave up hope to glimpse them as dawn began. However, I last saw M15 through 10x50 and then I showed it to folks through 25x100 binocs and at the end our last score was 93 objects out of 110. This number was very low than we expected. I am sure our score would be at least 100 if the site was darker. We saw most of objects through my 8-inch and 10x50 binoculars. My 25x100 IF giant bino was useless without a viewfinder. It was just a showpiece for visitors. At the time of windup, a crescent moon attracted everyone and Mr. Narendra Gor took a beautiful video. Nishant Gor, Fenil Patadiya and Ashwin Vaghela were helping hands.

March 22: Saturn opposition. (Dist. 8.5 A.U., Angular Size 20 Arc Sec., Mag. 0.53). On the night of 22^nd an observer according to the Indian Standard time will see Titan very close to the Saturn’s North Pole at 9:20pm.

March 23: First Quarter Moon.

March 25: Moon and Mars are 5 degrees apart at 9:00pm.

March 26: Pluto Western Quadrature.

March 27: Moon and Regulus are 5 degrees apart.

PLANETS IN MARCH 2010

VENUS: Very low in west after sunset. Shining at magnitude -3.9, the planet will be just 4’09” from the star 20 Piscium (mag. 5.46) on March 4^th. Venus will be paired with the moon on the evening of 17^th. On 31^st March, Venus will be paired with Mercury.

URANUS: Uranus will remain very low in west. The planet will be unable to observe during the month.

MARS: Mars now shines at magnitude -0.6 at the month’s beginning will remain in Cancer. Mars is well placed in the sky after sunset during March. The magnitude will drop down to 0.15 by month’s end.

SATURN: Saturn will rise around 8:20pm during month’s beginning. The ringed world will reach near opposition on March 22^nd. The event of Moon Titan’s close passing to the planet’s North and South poles can be observed during this month. Here are the dates of Titan’s close passing according to Indian Standard Time.

· March 7 at 2:41am. North Pole

· March 14 at 10:35pm. South Pole

· March 22 at 11:31pm. North Pole

· March 30 at 8:25pm. South Pole

NEPTUNE: Neptune is very low in the eastern sky in the constellation Capricornus just before sunrise. It will move to Aquarius on March 24^th.

MERCURY: Mercury is on Superior Conjunction on March 14^th. Mercury will be paired with Venus on March 31^st.

JUPITER: Jupiter will reappear in the morning sky on March 18^th. Jupiter will be only 16’ from the Phi Aquarii star (mag. 4.21) on March 31^st.

દર વખતની જેમ આ વખતે પણ સિંહ ઉલ્કા વર્ષા ને નિહાળવા ખગોળ શાસ્ત્રીઓ તથા ખગોળ રસિકો ઉત્કંઠા પૂર્વક રાહ જોઈ રહ્યા છે. લોકબોલીમાં જેને ખરતો તારો તરીકે ઓળખવામાં આવે છે તે ખરતા તારા કોઈ પણ અંધારી રાતે તમે જોઈ શકો છો. પરંતુ ૧૭ નવેમ્બર ની રાત્રીએ તો ખરતા તારા ની વર્ષા થવાની હોઈ ઉલ્કા વર્ષા નામ આપવામાં આવ્યું છે. આ બાબતે કચ્છ એમેચ્યોર એસ્ટ્રોનોમર્સ કલબના પ્રમુખ શ્રી નરેન્દ્ર ગોર સાગર વધુ માહિતી આપતાં જણાવે છે કે સામાન્ય રીતે ઉલ્કા એ નાના રજકણથી માંડી ને નાના કાંકરા ના કદના પથ્થરના ટુકડાઓ છે. આવો જથ્થો મોટાભાગે ધૂમકેતુઓ દ્વારા છોડવામાં આવે છે. આપણી કહેવત "સાપ ગયા ને લીસોટા રહ્યા" ની જેમ ધૂમકેતુ જાય પણ એનો કચરો રહી જાય તેમ પૃથ્વી જયારે જયારે આવા જથ્થા પાસેથી પસાર થાય ત્યારે ત્યારે તે જથ્થાને પોતાના ગુરુત્વાકર્ષણ બળ ની મદદથી પોતાની તરફ ખેંચી લે છે. આવા કણો તીવ્ર ગતિથી પૃથ્વી તરફ આવે છે ત્યારે પૃથ્વીના વાતાવરણ ના અણુઓ સાથે ઘર્ષણ કરી તેને વીજભારીત કરી સળગે છે જેને આપણે પ્રકાશિત ઉલ્કા સ્વરૂપે જોઈએ છીએ. સિંહ ઉલ્કા વર્ષા દર વર્ષે નવેમ્બર માસની ૧૩ થી ૨૦ તારીખ દરમ્યાન થાય છે જેમાં ૧૭ મી તારીખે સૌથી વધુ એટલેકે કલાક ની ૧૦૦ ઉલ્કાઓ દેખાવાની સંભાવના છે. ઉલ્કા વર્ષાની ચરમ સીમા ભારતીય સમય પ્રમાણે ૧૮ મી તારીખે વહેલી સવારે 0૩.૧૩ કલાકની હોઈ પૂર્વ એશિયા ના દેશો કે જ્યાં સિંહ રાશી માથા ઉપર હશે ત્યાં ઘણી સારી રીતે માણી શકાશે. આ ઉલ્કા વર્ષા ૫૫પી/ટેમ્પલ ટટલ નામના ધૂમકેતુ એ વેરેલા પદાર્થ ના કારણે થવાની છે. આ ધૂમકેતુ દર ૩૩ વરસે સૂર્યનો ચકરાવો લે છે. આ વખતે પૃથ્વી ઈ.સ.૧૪૬૬ માં વેરલા પદાર્થો પાસેથી પસાર થવાની હોઈ અને તે ઢગલામાં સારી માત્રામાં રજકણો હોઈ વધારે ઉલ્કા ખરવાની સંભાવના ખગોળશાસ્ત્રીઓ નિહાળી રહ્યા છે.

પ્રશ્ન: આ ઉલ્કા વર્ષા ને સિંહ ઉલ્કા વર્ષા કેમ કહેવામાં આવે છે?

નરેન્દ્ર ગોર: આ ઉલ્કા વર્ષાનું કેન્દ્ર સિંહ રાશી છે. સિંહ રાશી માં મઘાની દાંતરડી તરીકે ઓળખાતા વિભાગમાંથી ઉલ્કા વર્ષા થશે. જો આપણે ખરતી ઉલ્કા ની ઉલટી દિશામાં રેખા દોરીએ તો તે તેના કેન્દ્ર એટલેકે સિંહ રાશી તરફ લઇ જશે

પ્રશ્ન: ખરતા તારા જોવા માટેનો સારો સમય કયો?

નરેન્દ્ર ગોર: સિંહ રાશી નો ઉદય થયા બાદ ઉલ્કા વર્ષાની શરૂઆત થશે. ૧૭ મી તારીખની રાત્રીએ સાડા બાર કલાકે (એટલે કે ૧૮ તારીખના) સિંહ રાશીનો ઉદય થશે. સિંહ રાશી આકાશમાં ઠીક ઠીક ઉંચે આવી જાય ત્યારે ઘણી ઉલ્કાઓ દેખાવાની સંભાવના હોય. આમ વહેલી સવારે ૨.૪૫ થી ૫.૦૦ સુધીનો સમય ઉલ્કા વર્ષા જોવાનો શ્રેષ્ઠ સમય કહી શકાય.

પ્રશ્ન:મને સિંહ રાશી કઈ છે તે ખબર નથી તો મારે આકાશ માં ક્યાં સ્થળે જોવું જોઈએ?

નરેન્દ્ર ગોર: આ ઉલ્કા વર્ષા સિંહ ઉલ્કા વર્ષા કહેવાય ખરી પણ સિંહ રાશી માં ઉલ્કાઓ જોવા નહિ મળે પણ તેની આજુબાજુ આખા આકાશમાં જોવા મળશે. આથી સિંહ રાશી ને ના ઓળખતા હો તો પણ ચિંતાનું કારણ નથી. ખુલી જગ્યા કે જ્યાં આજુ બાજુ ની લાઈટ હેરાન ના કરે ત્યાં આરામ ખુરશી ઉપર બેસીને અથવા સુઈને આકાશ માં નજર કરવાની છે. જરૂરી નથી કે પૂર્વ કે ઉતર દિશામાંજ જોવું. તમને આકાશમાં જ્યાં અંધારું જણાય ત્યાં જુઓ. થોડીવાર માં તમારી આંખો અંધારામાં ટેવાઈ જશે. ઠંડી ની રૂતુ હોઈ ઓઢવા પાથરવાનું સાથે રાખવું જોઈએ. ઉલ્કાની નોંધ કરવા નોટબૂક અને પેન પણ સાથે રાખવા જોઈએ.

પ્રશ્ન: ઉલ્કાની નોંધ કઈ રીતે કરવાની તેનો ઉપયોગ શું?

નરેન્દ્ર ગોર: આ એક વૈજ્ઞાનિક પ્રક્રિયા છે. આપણે આ રીતે કુદરત દ્વારા થઇ રહેલ ઘટનાનું અવલોકન કરીએ છીએ. જો આપણે કઈ પણ ના જાણતા હોઈએ તો પણ આપણે એવી નોંધ તૈયાર કરી શકીએ છીએ જે ખગોળ શાસ્ત્રીઓને ઉપયોગી થઈ શકે. ઉદાહરણ તરીકે :દેખાએલી ઉલ્કા નો પ્રકાશ આછો, મધ્યમ કે વધુ પ્રકાશિત હતો? તેનો સમય, તેની લંબાઈ -ટૂંકી,મધ્યમ કે લાંબી હતી? તેનો પ્રકાશ ઝાંખો મધ્યમ કે પ્રકાશિત હતો? આપના સ્થળના અક્ષાંસ, રેખાંશ આ નોંધ આપની નજીકની એસ્ટ્રોનોમી ક્લબ કે વિજ્ઞાન કેન્દ્ર માં પહોચાડી શકો, આ સંસ્થાઓ તે વિગતો ઇન્ટર નેશનલ મેટિઓર ઓર્ગેનાઈઝેશન (IMO) ને મોકલી આપશે જ્યાં આખા વિશ્વ ના નિરીક્ષણો નું પૃથકરણ કરવામાં આવે છે.

પ્રશ્ન:કોઈ એસ્ટ્રોનોમી ક્લબ તરફથી ઉલ્કા વર્ષા નિહાળવાની વ્યવસ્થા કરવામાં આવી છે ખરી?

નરેન્દ્ર ગોર: કચ્છ એમેચ્યોર એસ્ટ્રોનોમર્સ કલબ દ્વારા દર વર્ષે ઉલ્કાવર્ષા નિહાળવાની વ્યવસ્થા કરવામાં આવે છે. આ વખતે પણ ભુજ ખાતે વ્યવસ્થા કરવામાં આવી છે જેની વિગતવાર માહિતી માટે ૯૪૨૮૨૨૦૪૭૨ ઉપર સંપર્ક કરવા વિનંતી છે.

Making Jupiters

IC 348 Nebula.

Some of the stars in this young cluster could have Jupiter-sized planets orbiting them.
IC348 is a glowing nebula of young stars, hot gas, and cold dust seen in the direction of the constellation of Perseus. It is the nearest rich cluster of young stars to earth, being only about one thousand light-years away. Its proximity has made it an important laboratory for astronomers probing the early stages of stellar evolution and star formation. At an estimated age of only two to three million years, it is also a somewhat young cluster; IC348 did not shine in the night sky of the first hominids. For comparison, our sun is about 4.5 billion years old.

Most stars less than about a million years old are still surrounded by the disks of material from which they formed. These primordial disks contain gas and dust that is also the raw material for planets. As the star ages, planets and smaller bodies form out of some of that material; the rest is soon expelled, or accreted onto the star. After about 3-7 million years, the initial disks are gone. But then a new kind of disk begins to develop as orbiting rocky bodies collide with each other to produce a dusty disk of debris that can be seen with infrared instruments.
This is the simple picture, anyway, that astronomers think is the most consistent with their observations to date. The problem is that sensitive new data from the Spitzer Space Telescope, and other telescopes, suggest that primordial disks disappear faster, and debris disks appear sooner, around mid- or high mass stars than they do around stars like the sun or smaller. How and why this could occur is an important part of the story of how planets form in stellar systems.
The stars in IC348 have a range of masses and a median age perfect for probing the timing of disk evolution. SAO astronomers Thayne Currie and Scott Kenyon combined new Spitzer observations of IC348 with spectra taken using the 1.5m Tillinghast telescope at the Fred L. Whipple Observatory, and other archival datasets. They find clear evidence that the primordial disks around high and intermediate mass stars do disappear relatively quickly.
Their results imply that such stars have much less time to form giant gas planets -- those like Jupiter and Saturn -- than do their solar-mass counterparts. Since there is some evidence that Jupiter-like planets commonly exist around larger stars, there must be some very rapid (a few million years) and efficient ways of making them.
Astronomers have only recently begun to propose some ways that might happen. The new observations help lend some credibility to the emerging picture of giant gas planets around massive stars.

Dear All Friends and Amateur Astronomers,

The big event of The Total Solar Eclipse in India is finally over. Indians enjoyed this event with the passions, feel the darkness which we cant see coming 113 years. Some people dissapointed but they enjoyed the darkness..

I really miss the Surat. First of all I really congratulations to four founder members Jagdish Thadani, Nikunj Rawal, Charitarth Vyas, Fenil Patadiya of Amateur Astronomers Association of Surat for organizing such a big international workshop on Solar Eclipse. And it got grand success. I m really thanks for this to all you members of AAAS, AGAA, Atmiya Vidhyamandir, and all which is connected to this event. This is really a nice arrangement. I really enjoyed this event.

And for the eclipse I want to say that it was an amazing moments during darkness. Perhaps it was a big event in my life I ever enjoyed.. Really Amazing....
But just dissapointed because of clouds but it not important for me. Because Life is big and we will organize International tour for Total Solar Eclipse in future !

So in short time(on 15th January) The Annular Solar Eclipse is coming and it will be seen in South India(Kanya Kumari), so I think we should organize the tour to South for the eclipse.. So all think on it and just do it.

In last, You all know that this is the International Year of Astronomy, so do the best activites during this year and feel the Astronomy....!

કચ્છમાં સૂર્યગ્રહણ નિહાળવામાં વાદળાનું ગ્રહણ

સદીના સૌથી લાંબા સમય સુધી ચાલનારા સૂર્યગ્રહણના અદભૂત આકાશી નઝારાને નિહાળવા માટે કચ્છ એમેચ્યોર એસ્ટ્રોનોમર્સ ક્લબ ભુજ દ્વારા સુરલભીટ પર વ્યવસ્થા કરાઇ હતી પરંતુ વાદળાના વિઘ્નના કારણે સૂર્યગ્રહણનો રસીકો પુરતો આસ્વાદ કરી શક્યા ન હતા. ભુજ ઉપરાંત માંડવી અને અંજારમાં પણ આ વ્યવસ્થા કરાઇ હતી. પરંતુ ત્યાં પણ વાદળા વિઘ્ન બન્યા.
ક્લબના વિજયભાઇ વ્યાસ, ગુંજન દોશી, બિપીન વકીલ દ્વારા આ વ્યવસ્થા કરાઇ હતી. અહીં ૬૦થી ૭૦ ખગોળ રસીકો ઉપસ્થિત રહ્યા હતા જેમાં ૧૦થી ૧૫ વિદ્યાર્થીઓ હતા. તેઓ ગ્રહણ ભલે નિહાળી ન શક્યા પણ સુરત ગ્રહણ નિહાળવા ગયેલા ક્લબના પ્રમુખ નરેન્દ્ર ગોરની રનીંગ કોમેન્ટ્રી સાંભળી હતી. ગ્રહણ જોવા અન્યોની સાથે જિલ્લા વિકાસ અધિકારી રાજકુમાર બેનીવાલ પણ તેમના સ્ટાફ સાથે સુરલભીટ્ટ પહોંચ્યા હતા. છતાં વાદળામાંથી ટૂકડે ટૂકડે દેખાતા ગ્રહણ તેમણે જોયું હતું. ગ્રહણ ૬.૨૫ વાગ્યે પૂર્ણાવસ્થામાં પહોંચ્યું ત્યારે આકાશનો લાલશ પડતો પ્રકાશ ઓછો થયો અને સાંજ જેવું અંધારું છવાયું હતું. સુરતથી નરેન્દ્રભાઇએ ગ્રહણની રનીંગ કોમેન્ટ્રી આપી અહીં ઉપસ્થિત રહેલાઓને રોમાંચિત કર્યા હતા.
સુરત પહોંચેલા નરેન્દ્રભાઇ જણાવે છે કે વાદળા અને છાંટા વચ્ચે સૂર્ય દેખાવાની બિલકુલ શક્યતા ન હતી. તેવા સમયે સવારે ૬-૨૧ મિનિટે રાત્રી જેવું ઘનઘોર અંધારું ૩-૩૦ મિનિટ માટે છવાઇ ગયું. વાદળ અને વરસાદ હતો તેથી તારા ન દેખાયા. જો કે આ અંધારાની અનુભૂતિ પણ અનન્ય હતી. સુરતમાં અલગ અલગ જગ્યાએ ગ્રહણ જોવા પહોંચેલા ૫૦ હજારથી વધુ લોકો નિરાશ થયા હતા. સુરતમાં ઓલ ગુજરાત એમેચ્યોર એસ્ટ્રોનોમર્સ એસો. ઓફ સુરત દ્વારા બે દિવસનો વર્કશોપ યોજાયો હતો જેમાં દેશના ખ્યાતનામ વૈજ્ઞાનિકો ડો. નરેન્દ્ર ભંડારી, ડો. રાજમલ જૈન, જે.આર. ત્રિવેદી, હરિઓમ વત્સ તથા ડો. જે.જે. રાવલે પોતાના વક્તવ્યો આપ્યા હતા.

21મી સદીનું લાંબામાં લાંબુ સુર્યગ્રહણ અંગે એમેચ્યોર એસ્ટ્રોનોમર્સ એસોસીએસન ઓફ સુરત(AAAS)અને ઓલ ગુજરાત એસ્ટ્રોનોમર્સ્ એસોસીએશન (AGAA) સંસ્થા દ્વારા કોળી-ભરથાણા મુકામે એક લાઈવ વર્કશોપનું આયોજન થનાર છે. એ જાણી વીજ્ઞાન મંચની ટીમ રોમાંચીત થઈ ગઈ. તા.21/07/૨૦09ના રોજ શ્રી ગોવીંદ મારુની આગેવાની હેઠળ ડૉ. દીપક દેસાઈ, ડૉ. ધનસુખભાઈ પટેલ અને શ્રી ભુપેન્દ્ર ઝેડ. નવસારીથી સુરત-કામરેજ જવા રવાના થયા.ત્યારે નવસારીમાં અષાઢી મેહુલો મસ્ત-મસ્ત ઝરમર-ઝરમર વરસતો.. અમોને વીદાય આપવા વેસ્મા હાઈ-વે સુધી આવ્યો. મઝા આવી, સાથો-સાથ મનમાં ચિંતા પણ થતી કે સુરતમાં વરસાદ હશે કે નહિ ? વેસ્મા હાઈ-વેથી કામરેજ(જી. સુરત) થઈ અમારી ટીમ કોળી-ભરથાણા ગામની સીમમાં આવેલી અત્યંત સુન્દર અને જાજરમાન ‘આત્મીય વિદ્યા મંદીર’ના કેમ્પસમાં દાખલ થયા ત્યારે વરસાદ ગાયબ થઈ જતાં ફરીથી જાણે હરખનું તેડું આવ્યું હોય તેમ અમોએ રજીસ્ટ્રેશનની પ્રક્રીયા પુર્ણ કરી ગરમા ગરમ ચા-નાસ્તો કરીને શાળાના પવીત્ર અને ચોખ્ખાઈભર્યા માહોલથી અનહદ આનંદ અનુભવીને ‘આત્મીય વીદ્યા મંદીર’ના હોલમાં પ્રવેશ કર્યો. દેશ-વીદેશના વૈજ્ઞાનીકો, શીક્ષકો, જીજ્ઞાસુ મીત્રો અને વીદ્યાર્થી ડેલીગેટસ તેમજ ‘આત્મીય વીદ્યા મંદીર’ના ધોરણ 8-10ના વીદ્યાર્થીઓથી હોલ છલોછલ ભરાઈ ગયો હોવા છતા નીરવ શાંતિ વચ્ચે અમો મોડા પહોચ્યા- ત્યાંરે કાર્યક્રમ શરુ થઈ ગયો હતો.

‘સુર્યગ્રહણ’ના પ્રથમ પગથીયાનો તેજ લીસોટો જાણીતા ખગોળ વૈજ્ઞાનીક ડૉ. બ્રીજમોહન ઠાકોરે પાડ્યો. તેઓએ “Activities for Solar Eclipse” પર પ્રવચન આપવાનું શરુ કરી ઉપસ્થીત સૌને એક તાંતણે બાંધી દીધા. સુર્યની શક્તી, પ્રકાશ, અંતર, સુર્યના રહસ્યો, આભામંડળ, સુર્યગ્રહણ, વીષે ઉંડાણથી સરળ અંગ્રેજીમાં સમજ આપી. ત્યાર બાદ કચ્છ એમેચ્યોર એસ્ટ્રોનોમર્સ ક્લબના સેક્રેટરી શ્રી નરેન્દ્ર ગોરએ“સુર્યગ્રહણ સબંધી માન્યતાઓ તેમજ અંધશ્રધ્ધાઓ” અંગે સીધી-સાદી ગુજરાતી-અંગ્રેજી ભાષામાં વાતો કરીને સૌનું મન જીતી લીધું હતું. તેઓના વક્તવ્યને સૌએ તાળીઓના ગડગડાટથી વધાવી લીધા. ત્યાર બાદ ફીઝીકલ રીસર્ચ લેબોરેટરી(પી.આર. એલ.)ના સીનીયર સાયન્ટીસ્ટ ડૉ. હરી ઓમ વત્સએ‘Shadow Bands‘ અંગે એટલાંટીકમાં કરેલ અનુભવને એનીમેશન ચીત્રો દ્વારા તેમજ શોધ નીબંધને સ્લાઈડ શૉ દ્વારા સમજાવેલ. ત્યાર બાદ ડૉ. જે. આર. ત્રીવેદીએ 36 વર્ષ પહેલા ઉલ્કાઓ ભેગી કરી રીસર્ચ લેબોરેટરીઝને પહોંચાડવાનો વીશ્વવીક્રમ સ્થાપ્યો હતો. તેવા આ સીનીયાર સાઈંટીસ્ટે “Meteorite Collection with Students” વીષય ઉપર સવીસ્તાર વ્યાખ્યાન આપ્યું.

ત્યાર બાદ પી.આર. એલ.ના એસ્ટ્રોનોમી એન્ડ એસ્ટ્રોફીઝીક્સ ડીવીઝનના પ્રો. ડૉ. રાજમલ જૈનએ“Sun-Earth Relation“ વીષય ઉપર કહ્યું કે, હું છેલ્લા ત્રણ વર્ષથી સુર્યની પાછળ પડ્યો છું. મને સૂર્યમાં ખુબ જ રસ છે. સુર્યની દીન-પ્રતીદીન, કલાક-મીનીટ, રોજ-બરોજની હીલચાલની નોંધ રાખું છું. છેલ્લા ત્રણ વર્ષના તેઓના સંશોધનમાં સુર્યએ કોઈ મુવમેંટ કરી નથી. ત્રણ વર્ષથી સુર્ય શાંત બેઠો છે- એ વૈજ્ઞાનીકો માટે ચીંતાનો વીષય છે. જો સુર્ય શાંત રહે તો પણ ઉપાધી અને તોફાને ચઢે તો પણ ઉપાધી છે. હમણાનું ગ્લોબલ વોર્મીન્ગ માનવ સર્જીત છે. પણ ભવીષ્યમાં સુર્ય પણ ગ્લોબલ વોર્મીન્ગ માટે જવાબદાર રહેશે! સુર્યના પરીઘ ઉપર ગોળાકારમાં આપણે એક પછી એક પૃથ્વીઓ ગોઠવીએ તો 1,33,000 પૃથ્વીઓ ગોઠવી શકાય ! અને સુર્યમાં ઉપરથી એક મોટું બાકોરુ(કાણું) પાડીને સુર્યના પેટાળમાં એક પછી એક પૃથ્વી પધરાવીએ તો બે લાખથી પણ વધુ પૃથ્વીઓ સુર્યના પેટાળમાં જાય તો પણ એનો પેટાળો ભરાઈ નહીં !! એક કુતુહલ પ્રેરક વાત પણ કરી કે, ત્રાજવાના એક પલ્લામાં સુર્યને મુકીને વજન કરવું હોય તો આશરે દોઢ લાખથી વધુ પૃથ્વીની જરૂર પડે !!! અર્થાત્ સુર્ય આપણી પૃથ્વી કરતાં અનેક રીતે મોટો- ચઢીયતો છે !!!! આવી વાતો કરી સૌને મંત્રમુગ્ધ કરનાર ડૉ. જૈન સાહેબનું વક્તવ્ય કાબીલે દાદ હતું !

ત્યાર બાદ ચન્દ્રયાન પ્રોજેક્ટને કો-ઓર્ડીનેટ કરી રહેલ જાણીતા વૈજ્ઞાનીક ડૉ. નરેન્દ્ર ભંડારી એ“Mission to Moon“ વીષય ઉપર ચન્દ્ર ઉપર માનવરહીત ‘ઈસરો’ દ્વારા મોકલવામાં આવેલ ‘ચન્દ્રયાન-1′ તેમજ હવે પછી મોકલવામાં આવનાર ‘ચન્દ્રયાન -2′ના ચીત્રો સહીતની માહીતીથી સર્વે ડેલીગેટસને અચંબામાં મુકી દીઈને વીસ્તારથી સચીત્ર સમજ આપી હતી. અહેવાલના અંતે ‘ચન્દ્રયાન -2′ નું ચીત્ર સાદર છે.

એક નાનકડા કાર્યક્રમમાં ડૉ. જે. જે. રાવલ, પ્રમુખશ્રી, ઈન્ડીયન પ્લેનેટરી સોસાયટીની અદ્યક્ષતામાં તેમજ તમામ વૈજ્ઞાનીક/વક્તાશ્રીઓ, ‘આત્મીય વીદ્યા મંદીર’ના આચાર્યશ્રી ડૉ. યોગેશ રાવલના વરદહસ્તે દીપ પ્રાગટ્યથી AAAS સંસ્થાની સ્થાપના કરવામાં આવી, જેને તમામ ડેલીગેટસ તેમજ વીદ્યાર્થીઓએ તાળીઓના ગડગડાટથી વધવવામાં આવેલ. પરંતુ અન્ય રોકાણોને કારણે ડો. જે. જે. રાવલ સાહેબના વક્તવ્યનો લાભ મળ્યો નહી તેનું સર્વેને દુ:ખ રહ્યુ.

21મી જુલાઈએ થયેલ વરસાદે અમોને ભીંજવી દીધા હતા. 22મી જુલાઈએ થનાર ‘ખગ્રાસ સૂર્યગ્રહણ’ દેખાવાની કોઈ સંભાવના ન રહેતા અમારો ઉત્સાહ ઓસરવા લાગ્યો. અમારી વીજ્ઞાનમંચની ટીમ નીરાશ થઈને 22મી જુલાઈનો “live workshop” નો લાભ લઈ શકાય તેમ ન હોય, સાંજે 19-30 કલાકે ‘આત્મીય વીદ્યા મંદીર’ના કેમ્પસથી નવસારી પરત આવવા રવાના થયા ત્યારથી લઈને નવસારી પરત ફર્યા ત્યાં સુધી વરસાદે અમોને સાથ આપ્યો. અમો મીત્રો 8-30 કલાકે છુટા પડ્યા ત્યારે પણ દરેકના મનમાં ગ્રહણ નીહાળવાની ચીંતાઓના પહાડ ખડા થઈ ગયા. AAAS સંસ્થા આયોજીત આ કાર્યક્રમના યજમાન ‘આત્મીય વીદ્યામંદીર’નો ફાળો નાનો-સૂનો ન હતો. વીદ્યા મંદિરના આચાર્ય ડૉ. યોગેશ રાવલ સાહેબ તેમજ ટ્ર્સ્ટીમંડળના સભ્યો અને હરીભક્તોએ વર્કશોપમાં ભાગ લેનાર સર્વે વૈજ્ઞાનીકો, શીક્ષકો, વીદ્યાર્થીઓની ખડે પગે દેખભાળ રાખી એ બદલ એ તમામને ઢગલો ભરીને અભીનંદન આપીએ તો પણ ઓછા છે..

22મી જુલાઈના રોજ અમારી ટીમ સુયગ્રહણ જોવા સમયસર એકઠી થઈ પરંતુ પરીણામ શુન્ય રહ્યું. ખગ્રાસ તો ઠીક પણ આંશીક સુયગ્રહણ પણ જોઈ શકાયું નહીં, એ વાતનો અફસોસ રહી ગયો. એ સમયે સમગ્ર પંથકમાં અંધારપટ છવાતાં પશુ-પક્ષીઓની દોડધામ, ચીચીયારી અને નગરજનોનો ઉત્સાહ વચ્ચે અમો ફરીથી ખુશ થયા. તેમજ ટી.વી. ચેનલો દ્વારા તારેગના(આર્યભટ્ટની કર્મભુમી), ગયા, અલ્હાબાદ, સોનભદ્ર, કોહીમા વીગેરેના આંશીક ગ્રહણ તેમજ વારાણસી અને ચીનના ખગ્રાસ ગ્રહણની વીવીધ તસ્વીરો નીહાળીને અનહદ આનંદ માણ્યો. હવે પછી આટલું લાંબુ સૂર્યગ્રહણ એક સદી પછી- એટલે કે 13 જુન, 2132 સુધી થનાર નથી. ત્યારે આપણામાની એક પણ વ્યક્તી જીવીત નહીં હશે !!

જાણીતા સાયન્સ એક્ટીવીસ્ટ શ્રી ધનંનજય રાવલની આગેવાની હેઠળ યોજાયેલ આકાર્યશીબીર દ્વારા અમોને ખુબ જ જાણવા મળ્યું તેનો આનંદ છે. AAASની સ્થાપક મીત્રો સર્વશ્રી જગદીશ થદાણી, ચરીતાર્થ વ્યાસ, નીકુંજ રાવલ , ફેનીલ પાટડીયા નો ખુબ ખુબ આભાર.

June 5, World Environmental Day, was a memorable day for all StarPeace friends. StarPeace colleagues from all around the world, from Brazil to Uruguay, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, India, Nepal and New Zealand, broke the artificial Earth borders with three key words: Sky, Peace, and Environment.

In Brazil, Marcelo de Oliveira Souza, from Louis Cruls Astronomy Club, Campos dos Goytacazes, Rio de Janeiro held the StarPeace event. TV News transmitted live the event for more than 40 cities. As Marcelo said, "the event was a big success." They talked with Andrea Sanchez in Uruguay and Mohammad Torabi in Iran from the public square.

In Iraq, although the weather was dusty, Azhy Hasan from Amateur Astronomers Association of Kurdistan(AAAK) held the StarPeace event in Kurdistan of Iraq. They light candles under star lights!

Due to holiday in Iran on June 5, Iranian StarPeace team, Sky Peace Non-Profit Non-Governmental Organization held the event on June 6 in the observatory of Science and Astronomy Center of Tehran. StarPeace team with the help of Plan for Land environmental society organized lectures about environment, astronomy and peace including a lecture by two Iranian cyclists who cycling around the world for peace and environmental conservation. At the end the group planted an olive tree with the message of peace on observatory's yard.

In Pakistan, Hassan Ghazali from Society of the Sun with the help of Umair Asim hosted members of the general public and special invitees from the SOS Children's Villages and the Sharif Educational Complex at the PIA Planetarium in Lahore. They held lectures about life on Earth and nature of other planets. After the lecture, the lights for peace were lit at the Planetarium Globe and messages of peace were shared between the participants. At the end the observation session had been held.

In India, Sumarasar village, a rural area near Bhuj, Narendra Sagar Gor from Kutch Amateur Astronomy club held the StarPeace event. Narendra said: "This was the first time program in the history of the village". More than 500 people joined the program from Bhuj and Gandhidham. Live chatting and telephone conferencing was made between Pakistan and Iran.

In Nepal, Jayanta Acharya, SPoC and Chair International Year of Astronomy 2009 in Nepal with the help of Suresh Bhattarai from Astronomical Society of Nepal held a star party with around 50 students and discussion sessions about environment and pollution, peace and astronomy relations. They also formed an Eco Club with 10 students from Class 4 to Class 10.

Also Andrea Sanchez in Uruguay, Manoj Pai in Ahmedabad, India from Astronomy Club Ahmedabad and Paul Moss in New Zealand from SKY (Southern Kaitiaki and You) celebrated World Environmental Day and borderless sky by holding star parties and lighting candles under star lights.

Stars for Global Peace event was supported by StarPeace, Astronomers Without Borders and UNAWE program.

"Stars for Global Peace" event.

On the occasion of Environment Day on 5th June 2009, a group ofamateur
astronomers and astronomy groups world wide have planned a unique
event of having Candle Lights under Star Lights. Called Stars for
Global Peace, this is an event to promote Global Harmony and Peace.
It has attracted participants from several countries world wide from
Brazil in the West to New Zealand in the East. All these countries
including Uruguay , India, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan and Oman would gather
in the evening of 5th June - World Environment Day at a designated
venues like near the river bed, memorial areas, school compounds,
public gardens, places of workshop, malls etc. They will light candles
under star light and spread the word on equality and peace amongst
each other. Telescopes would be put up each venue where visitors would
get a chance to view the celestial objects. These viewers will realize
that earth is the only planet that can provide us with a place to
live. If we do not continue to live in peace and harmony, we would not
be able to survive.
A blown up globe of UNAWE program would be pass hands of groups of
children to let them understand more about Universe and the world we
live in.
Groups of each participating countries would contact each other on
phone, video or web conference during the event and spread the
messageof peace. Youngsters will play music and songs dedicated to
worldpeace. Artists shall display paintings and sculptures depicting
peaceduring the event. In some of the countries, efforts are being
made toinvite scientists, actors, sport persons, and celebrities
together atthe venue. Media persons would be invited to the venue and
briefedabout the purpose behind this program.
The object is to unite the strength of individuals and make peace
agreater reality for future generations.
The event will comply with the goals of IYA2009 as endorsed by the
United Nations. The event is supported by StarPeace, Astronomers
Without Borders and UNAWE program.

StarPeace event between 4 countries: We Want Peace!

“From Pasabandar, a border village in southeast of Iran, when we called our friends in Pakistan many voices from the other side of the line made the conversation difficult to hear. Hassaan Ghazali told us about exited people in Pakistan who observed the sky for the first time. They looked at the stars like us and they yelled repeatedly: "We want peace!"” told StarPeace Iran team.

To bring peace and science among people, StarPeace cooperators held a public stargazing party from four countries on May 1, 2009: Oman-Iran-Pakistan-India

Pasabandar, Iran

In Iran, StarPeace core team in cooperation with Astronomers of Southeast of Iran Society and Astronomy Society of Mehbaang mounted their telescopes among local inhabitants in Pasabandar, a coastal village in the most southeast part of Iran. StarPeace team mounted their telescopes in three locations in the village. Two telescopes were mounted near harbor. A lot of men and boys came there and among them were a lot of seamen; they knew most of constellations and stars in the sky the same way that we know but with different names.

Another telescope with a portable photo exhibition of 20 photos of "From Earth to the Universe" cornerstone project was located in the yard of village mosque; worshippers after saying their prayers came and enjoy the Moon and Saturn through the eyepiece and then went on a trip to the Universe, from Earth to the most distant galaxies through FETTU exhibition while one of the members of StarPeace explain them the photos.

Women and girls in Pasabandar village did not come out of their homes frequently, so StarPeace group brought two telescopes to their homes. In two houses, StarPeace team brought two telescopes and invited women and girls in neighboring houses to came and saw the sky, Moon and Saturn through eyepiece. The reactions were so interesting, some of them scared at first and did not come to see through the eyepiece, but when they saw the Moon finally they were surprised and laughed. There were also some girls who knew a little about astronomy and space and they were so eager to know more. StarPeace team gave the children some postcards and photos of astronauts and space stations which brought them joy and happiness.

Meanwhile, StarPeace cooperators from Pakistan, Lahore called Iran. They were organized a stargazing party in Lahore SOS children village. Children were so excited and happy and they yelled “We want peace!” Hassan Ghazali and Umair Asim organized the program in Lahore. In south of Pakistan, Khalid Marwat held another program in Karachi harbor. StarPeace in Iran called him and read the StarPeace message for them. StarPeace Iran contacted Manoj Pai in Ahmedabad, India too and shared greetings and peace message with him.

Karachi, Pakistan

Khalid Marwat held stargazing party for inhabitants of Karachi harbor. Around 250 visitors came from near locations to the observing venue on 1st May, Friday. Security situation in Karachi made the number much lesser.

Three telescopes and some binaculars were mounted. The most viewed item was Saturn, followed by the Moon. M13, the globular and M57, the Ring Nebula were liked by the late observers. Multiple star (Mizar and Alcor) were appreciated by many. It indeed opened their understanding of additional concepts about stars.

"Many liked the connection of astrology with astronomy. People with Leo as their astrology star liked to see Leo and appreciated the presence of Saturn in their constellation. " Khalid said.

Also there was a telescope working session in which Telescopes were handled and managed by volunteers who learnt to handle them the very night.

In the middle of the observation two lectures have been held: "Lunar Phases" by Mrim Gul, a 11 years old girl, that appreciated a lot by audience, and "Tonight's Sky" presentation in which Mohsin talked about the objects which was visible on that night and their astronomical details. The lectures proceeded by Q&A session which was excellent and very participative.

During the program Khalid Marwat talked with Hassaan Ghazali from Lahore and Kazem Kookaram from Iran and received StarPeace message, " which was very imaginative, thought provoking and overwhelmingly wonderful", Khalid told.

The observation lasted till 0200 am (Saturday) in local time.

The observation on first night of Friday was liked so much by the public that it was continued for the next Saturday evening too. It was the same show but the visitors this time were from farther localities that came to know about the star party. 350 visitors came this time.

Lahore, Pakistan

Banners were set up in Lahore: “One Sun, One Earth, No Borders!” Hassaan Ghazali and Umair Asim in cooperation with two other astronomers mounted three telescopes in the Lahore Planetarium. Planetarium visitors and the public were treated to fantastic views of the planet Saturn and the Moon. People were also mesmerized by views of craters on the Earth's Moon and the seas of solidified lava which are not discernible to the unaided eye. Also with a green laser pointer StarPeace Lahore pointed at the constellations in the sky and explained them to the public. Umair said: “People were very interested to see ‘their’ stars.”

Also children from Lahore SOS village joined them at the program. They were thrilled to see planets and various craters of the moon. Around 300 people participated in the program that night.

During the event, Hassaan Ghazali from the Society of the Sun led the exchange of greetings with counterpart astronomers over the phone. “A message of peace from a group of enthusiastic children from SOS children's villages was relayed to them. The message was three simple words uttered by every Pakistani, every day--"We Want Peace!"” Hassaan told.

Ahmedabad, India

In India Manoj Pai and two other astronomers in Ahmedabad put up one telescope with a pair of binoculars for a group of 30 interested visitors.

Manoj Pai told: “Not all of the visitors were actually aware that groups in other countries were also observing the same object. They got excited when we told them about it. The interesting thing that some of them had asked was whether the moon looked the same way as it did to all of you. To others it was like people from different countries playing the same game in an international competition like Olympics.”

StarPeace team from Iran called Manoj Pai too; but it was a little late and the program was over. Even though, they shared the peace message: “The moon was looking down at us over here. It was looking down the same way at you too.”

Bhuj, India

Narendra Sagar Gor in Bhuj, a city near Pakistan and India border held a star party for their group members; they observed the Moon and Saturn and discussed about peace promotion and astronomy.

Muscat, Oman

With Oman, StarPeace covered north and south of the Oman Sea with four countries. Dr. Saleh Said Al-Shidhani held a star party in Muscat for the public. Around 80 visitors enjoyed observing the Moon and Saturn by two telescope which was mounted in a garden. Also lectures about astronomy were held for the public.

StarPeace wishes for a borderless world, what is the real face of our Earth; just like the Sky above us.

As we have decided to do star party at Air Force Station Bhuj But during star party we wanted to show International Space Satation to the Childern, But the sky condition was very bad for whole day. At night there were scatered clouds. It was not favorable for sky gazing. at 8.15 pm The ISS came all present children watched them through thin cloud layer. We pased this massage to all our club members by sms. they also see and the saw to other people also. Aproximatly more than 1000 people have watched ISS that day.

Beauty without Borders at Bhuj on National Science Day

The Program Beauty without Borders here in Bhuj went very nice

We put One Telescope and Two binoculars for the public

The place was middle of the city near Hamirsar Lake

Though city street lights were bright we show Moon Venus and also Lulin late

People were exited to watch the Vinus as it was looking like Moon!!!

Nearly 70 people were get chance to see through telescope first time in their life.

We tried to live web cast the event. We were successful for few minutes but after that the battery of laptop gone so we couldn't continue.

There were seven children who are just wondering like beger and not going to school any time also get the chance to see..... The photo is attached

Kutch Amateur Astronomers Club Organising a Star Party On 28th February 2009 at 7pm onwards.

The programme is a part of Global Star Party Campaign and will be celebrate by more than 14 countries of the world. The programme is a joint venture of Astronomers Without Borders and Side Walk Astronomy with the help of CIAA The event will be web casted.

The number of participating countries has now risen to 14 and more

The news were exiting for me that you are going to form a club at Vidhya nagar
Our Club is Registered under Society act and trust act in 1992
To form a club is not hard task
You have option to start club with registered or without registered
Though many of the astronomy organizations in India are not registered
under above act they are working better
I think first you gather interested people set some objectives aims
and activities for example Popularization, workshops library, Sky
gazing etc.
Select some responsible person for office barer like President, Vice
president, Secretary, Treasurer, Executive committee members etc.
decide some amount of annual fees or life member fee for the club
I will send you the memorandum of association and articles of
association by post so study them and go ahead
Near by District Charity Commissioner Office will also help about the
registering procedure
There isn't any need for wait all these things.
